We told you back in November that the film What Women Want would be getting a remixed version with actress Taraji P. Henson to star. Well, according to Deadline, actors Tracy Morgan and Aldis Hodge are joining the cast, and I am sincerely thrilled about this.

The original What Women Want is one of my favorite movies. Released in 2000, actor Mel Gibson starred in the comedy, where he portrays a marketing executive tasked with selling products to women. The kicker is that he is a male chauvinist, so the way he sees women is beyond shallow. So, in a freaky accident, Gibson’s character is able to literally tap into the minds of every woman, allowing him to hear exactly “what women want.”

And with the support of his new female boss, played by Helen Hunt, he rises to the top…but at her expense.

In the remixed version, Taraji will play a sports agent who is being edged out of the industry by her male colleagues. So, like Gibson’s character, she will need to tap into the minds of the opposite sex, and in her own version of a “freaky accident,” she is able to do so. But I am curious to know at what cost? And more importantly, who will be her love interest?

Although Gibson’s character ultimately used Helen Hunt, the two fall in love when he realizes the error of his ways.

With Tracy Morgan and Aldis Hodge joining the cast, her love interest has to be one of them. Although Tracy is a self-proclaimed sex symbol, he has always been the resident funnyman, so maybe Aldis?

With beautiful portrayals of a loving partner/husband in both the TV series Underground and the Oscar-nominated film Hidden Figures, I would bet that he would be the one that Taraji has googly-eyes for. But if not, he is definitely a more typical guess than The Last O.G.’s Tracy Morgan himself (which debuts tonight, by the way).

But we won’t be able to find out until the film drops almost a year from now. It is scheduled to be released on Jan. 11, 2019.
